Updated the World Map again. Removed Persia at Kryten's request; added El Imperio Iberico (The Iberian Empire) and Turkey.

Re: Encyclopaedia Territorium
I have edited my map again. There are now no other nations on it, anti aliasing has been turned off, and I used the pencil tool so that there are no borders around the claim or zones of control. I have also provided a key beneath the map as to the names of the cities, and chosen different cities, as I have decided that my old map represented the regions well but not the actual cities, and that the most important ones should be there first.
I think it would be a good idea to provide a blank map at the top of the thread so that people don't have to take someone else's and paint bucket it all.

I don't. I assume that's an area I forgot to turn green. I'll fix that right now.

Even though i am super busy now with school starting in another city, i took the time to fix as much of your nation as i could.
List of things that were wrong and that i fixed:
You had somehow managed to change ground and ocean colour. (In fact also alias the whole coasts) This is probably due to saving as .jpeg instead of .png
You still had effects of anti aliasing left. (I recommend installing paint.net where there is a button to toggle AA)
You're ZoC were hovering around 680-780 while they should be exactly 750 each. To see this yourself press the magic wand button, then the light bulb (to set mode to global). Then just click the color you made your city and it should say "x pixesl squared" in the lower left.
You need a single pixel to show where the city itself is
I also don't know how, but you managed to screw the map up somehow by changing the width by a pixel. Meaning i had to redo and copy some of the coast to fix india on the map
You also covered a river with your city claim on the coast
I changed claims to grey beacuse it looks better
This is a link to the fixed map
Now, i can see a few more issues with your application:
It's fine if some parts of the application is a bit short, but it seems like all parts of yours is. It could still get accepted
Now people are accusing you for meta gaming because the way your claim was made. You have three cities. One on the coast and two in land. The two totally disconnected cities look like they are made specifically to be over the two resource nodes in India. Something you are not allowed or meant to do.
For comparison:

Re: Encyclopaedia Territorium
Mystic, thank you for your help. However, my map was saved as a PNG and made in Paint.net with anti-aliasing turned off, so I just don't know what the problem was.
I've been told several times that 750 is the pixel cap, and this is incorrect. To quote a post Charzy made on the third page of this thread:
As for the people who are claiming that I am metagaming, I would ask that they actually read my posts and look up my nation (which is a real life nation, if anyone doesn't know). Those two cities are Delhi and Agra, and they were the two most important Mughal cities. And even if I picked these sites randomly, which I did not, the charge of metagaming is ridiculous. The locations of these resources is IC knowledge shared by everyone, and cities are built around resources--that's how cities work. By definition, this could not have been metagaming, even if I did not pick the historical sites of important cities.
As for my application being too short, let me point out that a headmaster of this forum, Jaydee, posted the following application:
Compared to mine:
I understand that my liberal use of spoilers gives the impression that my application is shorter, while in reality mine is 375 words and his is 178. (And no, that does not include my long OOC section). I'm not sure if Jaydee was accepted, but Boggerm, and 255 words, was.
In conclusion,
I'm not sure how the map could have had problems, but thank you for fixing them. As for the claim that I'm metagaming, I believe I've actually put more thought than most into where the three cities I have been allowed should be placed. My nation application is average length and much longer than some that were accepted without any questions being raised about the issue.

Charzy wrote:Yeah, this is correct. I ought to have made that clearer to everybody. So long as your three cities have a total population of 9 000 000, you're free to make the distribution whatever you want. Obviously keeping in mind that it's 1 000 000 people to 250 pixels and that 999 999 people is no pixels.

Capital City: Ljubljana
Government Type: Consitutional Monarchy
Economic System: Capitalist
Leader Name: His Majesty Zvonko Zdravko
Ruling Political Faction: Konservativna Stranka Slovenije
History: The Slovenian Kingdom was founded when Slovenian nobles declared independence from Hungary in 1699. The Hungarians, weary from a recent war, couldn't stamp down this revolution. The main noble house of Zdravko took the Slovenian throne and a long period of peace reigned, resulting in a large economic and population growth. In 1762, a large Croatian revolt took place. The Croatians, feeling neglected, demanded equal rights to Slovenes. The then king decided to grant them the rights, to the dismay of the nobles. In 1790, Zvonko Zdravko ascended the throne.

The Empire is an Absolute Monarchy; the government is appointed at the will of the Shah, who also commands the army. However, the petty feudal lords still retain an unusual degree of autonomy, and regionalism remains a strong force.
Ruling Party: Conservaties- History:
The Mughal Empire crushed the rival Mahratha Empire in a series of successful wars during the last two decades of the 17th century; the Maharathas were destroyed before they could ever become powerful enough to topple their enemies, and the Mughal Empire survives. Unchallenged, the Mughals supressed all other opposition to their rule and retained their military power. United under Imperial rule, the Empire’s people begin to develop a sense of collective identity, and regionalism is replaced by nationalism. In the following century, the economic growth and prosperity of the 1600s continues.
As the Empire’s prosperity rises, it begins to expand its trade with foreign powers. Closer contact with the outside world brings an influx of modern ideas and technology, and the pace of modernization increases throughout the 18th century.
Beginning with the reign of Muhammad Shah in 1719, the monarchy began to actively challenge the power of the landed nobility. With the expansion and modernization of the bureaucracy, the Mughal Empire began to transform from a feudal state into a modern, centralized nation. Most important of all was the establishment of a large, professional army equipped with modern weapons, which allowed the Shah to easily quell any protests the nobles might have to his reforms; however, their opposition was not broken. Â
Despite its emergence as a prosperous modern state, internal divisions still grip the Empire. Old feudal loyalties are still strong in many areas, and many are now calling the absolute nature of the regime into question, despite its relative pluralism. There is no semblance of a representative government in the Mughal Empire; the Shah holds absolute power. Whether he will be able to retain that power in the face of an increasingly politically conscious population remains to be seen.

Greater Empire of Japan
Dai Nippon Teikoku
- The Imperial Symbols:
- The Nisshoki:
- The Kikumon:
- The Kyokujitsu-ki, The Imperial Japanese Army Flag:
- The Dai Nippon Teikoku Territory:
Blue: Kyoto
Red: Edo
Mustard: Sapporo
- Some facts regarding the empire's history:
- Year 1467. Following a succession crisis in the shogunate, conflict explodes in Kyoto between the opposing daimyo. While the city is burned to ashes, the war expans to the rest of the isles, in what is known as the Onin war. The shogun, rather than using his authority to put an end to those violences, spends his time indulging in poetry and designing his Silver Pavillon. While the anarchy ridden country is involved in a fratricidal war, the Joseon kingdom seizes the opportunity and invades Kyushu, with the daimyo unable to assemble an opposing force. The shogunate is reduced to a pale image of his former self, with powers only slightly higher than the tenno's.
In the middle of this anarchy, the first gaijin reach the archipelago. The wrecked survivors of a Portuguese ship are the first europeans to set foot in Japan in 1543, tasting firsthand the violence of the Warring Kingdoms period. It doesn't take long for western arquebuses and cannons to appear on the japanese battlefields, further increasing the bloodbaths.
In 1592, a powerful daimyo, Oda Nobunaga, manages to control nearly a third of the islands. Using his influence, he assembles a large number of allied warlords, all determined to fight the koreans off Kyushu and wash the dishonor of the previous century. The expedition ends in failure: most of the daimyo die in battle, and Nobunaga himself, umiliated, commits seppuku. The disaster serves only to light up another century and an half of anarchy.
In 1720, Nakamikado-tenno accesses the throne. Determined to put an end to the devastations of his country, he uses his reign to expand again his powers outside the walls of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. Using his direct descendance from the goddess Amaterasu as a powerful propaganda tool, he manages to rally a number of clans to the imperial cause. At his death his son, Sakuramachi-tenno, is the first emperor in centuries to access the trone with some real political power. Putting this power at good use, he embars in a pacification and reunification campaign. Half coerced into submission, half willingly supporting the tenno, by Sakuramachi-tenno death in 1767, the daimyo have largely bowed to the imperial authority. The next emperor, Kokaku-tenno, turns the country from a feudal kingdom into a truly centralized empire, cutting the power of the daimyo and turning them into nothing more than ceremonial province governors, granting them the franchise for the lower posts in the Dajo-kan.
By 1800, Japan is setting the stage to become a far eastern powerhouse. The sun has rised, and it won't take much for it to shine over the world.
- Religion:
- Officially there's no state religion, but shintoism is the most practiced religion. Buddhism is the second most practised, and a slight minority professes roman catholicism. Although not officially discriminated, the catholics are de facto excluded from all government, public and military positions.
- Government:
- The Dai Nippon Teikoku, as the name suggests, is an empire, with mild forms of constitutionalty. The powers reside in the person of the tenno, that delegates them to the Dajo-kan, the Great Council of State, whose ministries preside over the secular affairs of the nation. The lower posts are elected by the higher classes, namely the nobility, the higher samurai castes and the emerging capitalist class.
- Economic system:
- Capitalism in name, but in fact the economy is controlled by a relatively small number of families, corresponding to the surviving old daymio clans, that presides over their possessions as if they were still ruling a province.

Re: Encyclopaedia Territorium
How it actually works hellorp is: You get 250 pixels per million people. Exactly 250 pixels. So if you have a city of 3 million you need exactly 750 pixels. If it was 8,999,999 people you would have 500 pixels

Re: Encyclopaedia Territorium
Right, thanks for clarifying that Mystic. So, is there a particular way to get the number of pixels in a Zone of Control exactly right, or does the process just have to be really tedious? And I take it we repeat this process every time we gain a million people?

Both i and charzy have told you to use the magic wand tool in paint.net, click the lightbulb and then the colour of your claim. Look in the bottom left at "pixels square"
