The Imperial Scientific Institute - ISI, founded 157 years ago by Imperial Decree of Shahanshah Kooshan Quajar, reunites all the different Imperial Universities and Research Councils under a single directive and amministrative body.

The mission of the Institute is to direct and coordinate all the research and discovery efforts of Kahlawian scholars, to maximize their results in the name of the glory of the Empire and of its people.

The Institute is based in Kahiv, in the enormous Palace of the One Hundred Wisekerbs, the site where the first university of the world was founded 1700 years ago. Among museums, portrait galleries and historical memorabilia collections, the institute buildings house Kerbin's biggest library, containing almost everything has ever written on the planet and has survived the centuries, and even something that didn't, from the first Kahlawite clay tablets to the complete collection of the Ademan Courier, from Terripanian revolutionary pamphlets to the manuscript of Jerb Karter and the Princess of Duna.

The Institute has various branches: among them, the Biological Institution, the Centre for Advanced Phisics Studies and the Imperial Exploration Society, famous for the exploration of unknown Kortugan territories and for the great advances it encouraged in the flight technology.
