Federation announces intent to enter space age

Today, on a public speech, Madam President Johann Halsey (ret.) announced her plans to propel the Federation towards space.

"We are living the dawn of a new age. Kerbalkind has begun to send artificial satellites up into space, and they now revolve around our heads. The many uses of such satellites do not elude us. We can see their usefulness as telecommunication devices, helping connect the many distant facets of the world; But we are also aware that such machines can be explored for nastier uses.

As such, we cannot afford to be left behind. We need to place ourselves amongst those nations capable of exploring and exploiting space. For this intent, we have created a new organization, to represent the Federation in all matters regarded to space, and to lead our way in this new journey. I now declare official the Federal Space Force.

We plan to, in the future, build a space center to start our projects, but first, we need to improve our nation's infrastructure. As such, we are commencing the construction of a new industrial Center and Factory Farm, to help increase the Federal productivity and provide a guarantee that we will have enough resources to sustain a bigger workforce."

Despite the generosity of the offer, the Citizens have voted against joining the USE. The Federation would like to maintain full autonomy in all matters regarding space.
