Welcome to the Austronesian Embassy. Here you can drop comments or questions to one of our Ambassadors regarding our Empire, and they will gladly answer them to the best of their abilities. If you go to one of our bookshelves, you can read up more about our Empire. There are many books regarding our nations Geography, our history, even our current relations with other Nations, and more. Just remember to return them to their rightful place. And remember, theft from the library is a punishable offence.

Governmental information

Governmental Type:

Ideology: The Austronesian Empire is a Conservative state with many Islamic values. We believe that social change needs to take its time, however we are open to Westernise fields such as Economy and Science,  which can work to benefit everyone, rich or poor. The current Economic system is State Capitalism. We are a Islamic State and believes that the values of Islam are essential for a people to live together. Thus these following values represent the core of the Austronesian State and People:

Belief in One God: The most important teaching of Islam is that only God is to be served and worshipped.  Also, the biggest sin in Islam is to worship other beings with God.  In fact, we believe that it is the only sin that God does not forgive if a person dies before repenting from it.

Daily Prayer: Prayer is a method by which a Muslim connects to God and gathers spiritual strength and peace of mind.  Muslims perform five formal prayers a day. The State helps organise these prayers through the Clergy and the use of Minarets.

Charity: We recognize that all wealth is a blessing from God, and certain responsibilities are required in return.  In Islam, it is the duty of the wealthy to help the poor and needy. The Emperor can be seen each year at the time of Ramadan, handing out money and gifts for the poor.

Sin: We believe that it is every mans responsibility to follow the words of God. All Sins are punishable offences, and has big place in the Austronesian Penal Code.

Religious Information

A large majority of the Austronesian people are Sunni Muslims. Sunni Islam has played a large part in our history and identity as a people. Intellectuals has found the first traces of Islam (Sunni) as early as the early 1200s in Northern Sumatra, which was then part of the Austronesian Empire. The Emperor of that time was a very tolerant Emperor, and let the religion spread. The religion spread as fast as a forest fire, and by 1350, Islam becomes the State religion under the Srivijaya Dynasty. It is believed that Islam reached the Austronesian Empire through Arab merchants.

Still today, Islam has a large place in the hearts of the Austronesian people. As many as 92% of the population indentifies themselves as Sunni Muslims, and 2% identifies themselves as Shia Muslims. Islam is not forced on everyone, although many laws has an Islamic background. If you are practicing another religion, then all you have to do is to pay a minor religious tax. This ensure stability in realm, and we can clearly say that religious tensions are close to non-existant.

Religious census:
92% Sunni Muslims
3% Buddhist
2% Shia Muslims
2% Hinduists
1% Other religions.

Geography and Demographics:

The Austronesian Empire is currently home for 9,000 people, and is located in the Indian Ocean. The Empire is mostly rural, but in a transition towards industrialisation. However, currently the largest employer is the Agrarian sector. Most farmers are currently substanance farmers, meaning that they mostly produce enough to survive, but sells a smaller surplus on the Market. Many people are also dependant on the fishing industry, with fish an important part in the Austronesian Cousine, especially in the coastal communities. However, there is also an substancial merchantile class in society and have for many centuries been responsible for trade with countries in China, Indochina, the Pacific islands, India, Arabia and East Africa.
