Governmental information
- Governmental Type:
Our Empire can be identified as a Consitutional-Parliamentary-Monarchy. What does this mean? This means that the Emperor is the head of state, and that there exists a parliament that makes sure that the Emperor follows the consitution. They also have other functions which we will go into more detail below:
The National Assembly:
The National Assembly ("Majelis Nasional"), is the bicameral Parliament of Austronesia. Established by the 1742 Constitution, it consists of two houses: The House of Senate ("Dewan Senat") and the House of Representatives ("Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat")
The House of Senate has 75 members, all of whom are directly appointed by the Emperor, while the House of Representatives has 150 elected members. The Constitution ensures that the Senate can not be more than half the size of the House of Representatives. The members of both houses serve for four-year terms.
If the House of Representatives feels that the House of Senate is missbehaving or in other ways does not serve the interests of the people, they can dissolve the Senate. This would require a two-thirds majority in a "Vote of No Confidence"
Political Parties:

Emperor and His Cabinet:
Unlike the National Assembly, the Cabinet does not have four year terms. Instead. the Ministers are appointed directly by the Emperor and remains on their posts untill they resign, or untill the Emperor decides that someone else is more suited for the job.
Executive authority is vested in the Emperor and his Cabinet. The Emperor signs, executes, and can veto all laws. The Emperor may also suspend or dissolve the National Assembly, and shorten or lengthen the term of session. A veto by the Emperor may be overridden by a two-thirds vote of both houses at his discretion. He appoints and may dismiss all judges by decree, approves amendments to the constitution, declares war, and commands the Royal Austronesian Military. Cabinet decisions, court judgments, and the national currency are issued in his name. The Cabinet, led by a Prime Minister, is appointed by the Emperor. The Cabinet is responsible to the National Assembly on matters of general policy and can be forced to resign by a two-thirds vote of "no confidence" by that body.

Ideology: The Austronesian Empire is a Conservative state with many Islamic values. We believe that social change needs to take its time, however we are open to Westernise fields such as Economy and Science, which can work to benefit everyone, rich or poor. The current Economic system is State Capitalism. We are a Islamic State and believes that the values of Islam are essential for a people to live together. Thus these following values represent the core of the Austronesian State and People:
Belief in One God: The most important teaching of Islam is that only God is to be served and worshipped. Also, the biggest sin in Islam is to worship other beings with God. In fact, we believe that it is the only sin that God does not forgive if a person dies before repenting from it.
Daily Prayer: Prayer is a method by which a Muslim connects to God and gathers spiritual strength and peace of mind. Muslims perform five formal prayers a day. The State helps organise these prayers through the Clergy and the use of Minarets.
Charity: We recognize that all wealth is a blessing from God, and certain responsibilities are required in return. In Islam, it is the duty of the wealthy to help the poor and needy. The Emperor can be seen each year at the time of Ramadan, handing out money and gifts for the poor.
Sin: We believe that it is every mans responsibility to follow the words of God. All Sins are punishable offences, and has big place in the Austronesian Penal Code.
Religious Information
A large majority of the Austronesian people are Sunni Muslims. Sunni Islam has played a large part in our history and identity as a people. Intellectuals has found the first traces of Islam (Sunni) as early as the early 1200s in Northern Sumatra, which was then part of the Austronesian Empire. The Emperor of that time was a very tolerant Emperor, and let the religion spread. The religion spread as fast as a forest fire, and by 1350, Islam becomes the State religion under the Srivijaya Dynasty. It is believed that Islam reached the Austronesian Empire through Arab merchants.
Still today, Islam has a large place in the hearts of the Austronesian people. As many as 92% of the population indentifies themselves as Sunni Muslims, and 2% identifies themselves as Shia Muslims. Islam is not forced on everyone, although many laws has an Islamic background. If you are practicing another religion, then all you have to do is to pay a minor religious tax. This ensure stability in realm, and we can clearly say that religious tensions are close to non-existant.

3% Buddhist
2% Shia Muslims
2% Hinduists
1% Other religions.
