The jingle of the news starts playing in the loud speakers.

"Welcome proles to this broadcast of SDN. The Segerlinen Ambassador in Kahlawia was found guilty of thought crime. According to interrogations he has tried to influence people to start a revolt in our beloved country. The ministry of love has commented that it is unclear if they managed to get any foreign supporters.

The Ambassador will be executed in the comming days."

The sirens screams in many camps in the north east of the main island. A disturbance to the working schedual such as this was highly unsual, and everyone rushed to the common room to get more information of what has happened.

As all the people has finally gathered in the common room. The guards walk out of the common room, and locks the doors, the windows had been baricaded since earlier.

The projector that usually show the news reels, starts playing. On the screen is Big Brother, looking unsually angry.

"Greetings proles of our republic. A weapon stash was found in the very region that you are in right now, weapons not used by the military but by rebel groups. For your colaberation with the rebels, you have been found guilty of thought crime, and your sentence is death."

The people inside the common rooms start to panic, and despirately tries to find ways to break out. In some camps, they succeed but only to face the electric fences that surround their camps.

The screaming sound of bomber squadrons can be heard in the distance.

Meanwhile 20 kilometers away, a large collum of trucks has gathered. All around them, there are soldiers, some of which are talking to each other. Others gather magazines, and others such as officers looks at a map, marking out several camps, containing a grand total of 100 000 people.

As they hear the aircraft fly over their heads, they send a transmission to high command and starts driving of east.

The Segerline Revolution - Prelude Empty Re: The Segerline Revolution - Prelude

Meanwhile, in Stredenstadt....

Thousands of people are crammed into the square, each one of them cheering and jeering, yelling in outrage and mirth at the same time. The object of their intention is a beleaguered looking Kerb standing in an elaborate dock on the far side of the square. To the left of him sits a kerb in the uniform of the ministry of love. A slight smile is on his face, and his attention is also fixed on the kerb before him. He knew, of course, that the kerb was innocent of all but trying to gather foreign support: and equally, he knew that this kerb was a murderer, a rapist and a sadist who had smuggled weapons to aid the enemy. He would be charging him with the latter.

The national anthem plays on loudspeakers placed strategically throughout the square, and the crowd falls slowly silent. The air is electrified with anticipation. They're all there for the execution, really but the trial is always interesting as well.

"Ülrich Reinher, you stand before this court accused of the most heinous crimes for which we have laws." says the kerb from the ministry. The crowd cheer, and he does not continue for several seconds. The cheering was important.

"These include, but are not limited to, Murder, torture, weapons trafficking, aiding an enemy, and treason. How do you plead?"

The kerb swallows. After a few seconds, he replies, his voice tremulous: "Guilty." The crowd roars in approval.

The Segerline Revolution - Prelude Empty Re: The Segerline Revolution - Prelude

Lieutenant General Emrich Oelter sat at his desk, waiting. Around him were several Colonels, each one sitting in a similar silence. None of them were thinking much--that was normal, because thinking when there was no task to be accomplished was not permitted--they themselves would not permit it. Rouge thoughts were dangerous, and all thoughts could be discerned.

Major Kolm strode in, and stood smartly to attention. He then handed Emrich a folder.

"The reconnaissance aircraft have completed their tasks, sir. The general picked the file up. It contained a single piece of paper, adorned only with several rows of numbers, each one beginning with the number 4.5. After scanning the document for a few seconds, he places it back on the table.

"Gentlemen, the rebels are more entrenched than we suspected. Our operation will need to be upsized. Colonel Elron, I want to add the 4th, 5th, and 16th bomber wings to our task force. See to it that they are made ready immediately." The officer in question salutes and quickly leaves.

"The rest of you will divide the targets evenly between your commands. I want a battle readiness report by 14:00. Dismissed." One by one, they leave. As soon as they are all out, the general dials the phone and presses it to his ear. The number he dials is known to only a handful of people, and merely knowing that it exists is a high honor.

"Sir, I believe a change of strategy is required."

The Segerline Revolution - Prelude Empty Re: The Segerline Revolution - Prelude

Karl the farmer could not understand what was going on. He had loved Big Brother for as long as he could remember. However, that didn't matter now, nothing mattered anymore. Unless...

He looked at one of the windows. The baricades had been made in a hurry, he could see that as his father was a carpenter before he died. Karl gathers a group of people, and together they bring down the barricade and people stream out of the barricades.

The guard towers outside was empty for once. Something was most certainly right, what was Big Brother planning? He watched as people quickly ran towards the fences, and just as quickly falling to the ground after being chocked to death by electricity. He looked around to get any idea of what to do.

Then it finally occured to him... This was a giant farm, that he has been working in for his entire life. The vegitation out in the fields might be sufficient for him to hide in. He slowly dissapeared from the crowd, so that he nor his hiding place would gain attention and therefor blow his cover.

He snuck to the most remote corner of the farm and started to lay flat. There he would lay down untill the coast was clear.

Meanwhile

Günther Aldenheisen sat in his office. He had a slight smile on his face, today was a good day. He had finally found a trace of the terrorists who wanted such trivial things as freedom. Today the population would finally loose all hope of rebellion, he would show them what happens to dissidents.

He could hear the phone ring, and a assistant came through the door with a phone on a pillow in his hands.

"Comrade, you have a call from Lieutenant General Emrich Oelter!"

Günther picked up the phone and waved of the assistant.

"Yes?

A change of plan you say? Tell me, on what part was I unclear on when I told you I wanted you to drop your payload over marked camps?"

"Nothing was unclear, comrade, but we underestimated the extent of the rebellion. 10 districts have been marked." He paused for a moment, waiting for his commanding officer to take it in. "Sir, we have clearly waited far too long to quell this uprising. I do not think that precision strikes are an option any longer: an example must be made, or we will be chasing this rat up and down the country for the next ten years. I believe we must activate protocol zero."

"Go ahead, activate protocol zero and get this over with. Alert me when you are done!"

He sits down again and mumbles something about that the incompetency of his officer will be the death of him.

The Segerline Revolution - Prelude Empty Re: The Segerline Revolution - Prelude

The rebels quickly approached the convoy, they discovered the camera and the uniformed official from the ministry of truth, all be it a very badly damaged body.

They report the news the high command to recieve further orders. The commander knew what was happening, this is exactly what happened to the Royalist in their uprising 50 years ago. The rebels recieve the orders to evacuate the area, and let what happens happen. They would not be tricked into a open confrontation just yet, although it was inmoral to let these people die without a fight, they would have to die in the name of the revolution.

The majority of the rebel force fled up in the mountains, while a select few of volunteers stayed. They would try to evacuate any survivors that tries to flee from the governmental troops.

Before the raiding party left the convoy, the booby trapped the bodies and looted everything worth looting.

Private Signes approached one of the dead bodies. He kneeled in front of it, and took its dogtag. "Private Itmar, 101st motorized corp" he read. Just as he was beginning to search the body for ammunition, he heard someone breath, it was Itmar.

Signes looked to his Sergeant.

"Sir, do we take prisoners?"

"Yes Private, we'll take him to the base." He waved two guys to grab the body, and then they took off up in the mountains.
