Gladian Nuclear Test

On a quiet evening, a spherical object is hoisted on a 40 meter tall tower.
After everything is set up and the area cleared an alarm begins:
"All personnel must evacuate. I repeat, all personnel must evacuate. Bomb test commencing in 2 hours."
After two hours the alarm sounds:
"Test commencing in 10 minutes. Safety gear and goggles are to be put on."
Ten minutes later the alarm sounds for a last time:
"Test commencing in 1 minute. Everyone stand by."
A minute later a bright, white flash is seen, lighting up the night sky.
