Grand Opening of the Glorious United Soviets of Camponja

It was a cloudy night, and the dust had settled after the greatest celebrations the Untied Soviets had ever seen. As the moon rose to its usually prominent location in the sky, the Level One, Equal citizens returned home, to get some rest as to toil yet another day for the glory of Equalism, also known to some as socialism. The Level Two, More Equal Citizens carried on feasting and partying, but for the Level Three, More than Equal Citizens... things were about to get busy. Forming the Camponja Most Equal Government, Level Three Citizens all had one last feast to attend - this one with an international character. Indeed, it was the time for Camponja to show the world the True Light, the One prophesised by the Grand Intellectual, and in doing so establishing ties with the rest of Kerbin. For while most of the peoples surrounding Camponja are nothing but capitalist pigs and monarchists dogs suppressing their people, staying in hiding from these evils was not going to shine the True Light on the oppressed workers abroad. Better yet! Tonight, the Grand Intellectual, William Schreier, had an important announcement to make.. one that would utterly change the view of Kerbin's people on Equalism. Tonight, a new frontier would be breached!

Sir Schreier stood outside the Most Equal Palace, the location of the upcoming feast. After sadly having to delay it for nearly a full two hours, preparations were now complete, and the Most Equal Gates were opened to the foreign dignitaries that represented the oppressors... Expecting most dignitaries to show up with guards, Shreier has given the orders to allow each dignitary to bring a single, armed guard. Dingiatires themselves are not allowed to bring weapons into the compound.

Early to arrive but long in hobbling to the gate and to the Palace is Zenta Solon, grand father of Kinta, a noted socialist writer and policital theorist. Out of respect his much younger interns keep pace with him. When he greets the reception he will use traditonal local sayings. His ancient visage is wrinkled with a wide smile on this visit.

Suriik, a high noble and a respected diplomat from the king of West Kyux's adviser group arrives. He makes sure to play nice and shake hands with the right people before going to the other people. He is wearing the clothing you would expect for this event. He is also a noted supporter for the continuation of socialism in the UKK

Emadeddin Ahangarani, functionary of the Kahlawian Foreign Affair Office, steps out of his car and enters the palace.

A small governmental aircraft is radioed to from a small control tower near the palace. The vehicle is given an okay to land, and it touches down smoothly on the tarmac. The delegate steps out, and enters a vehicle, which takes him to the palace.

A besuited kerb enters the palace; he identifies himself as Makisig Tagenhagen, foreign minister of the Federation of Kabundakan.

Vicepresidente Morales enters the building, wearing a black suit, with a dark red bow tie, as well as the ProPar symbol on his right arm.

''Greetings, foreign dignitaries'', William says. ''While I am sure many others wish to arrive as well and are likely delayed, there is no reason not to start with the appetizers. Feel free to step to the main dinner room, from where you can observe the excellent view of our capital and enjoy some fine Camponjan dishes, such as Equal Oatmeal, Bread and Butter and of course our favourite drink, Water. Remember our security prescriptions and no one will have to be dismissed from entering!''

Suriik looks displeased at the lack of fine whine
"Mmm, this is good" He sais trying make it look like he liked it.

Sensing a certain distrust, William says to Suriik: ''Would you like something else? All our drinks are Equally delicious...''

"Ah, i'm sure they are equal, what did you bring us here to discuss? Surely there must be something more then the opening of your grand country"

''There is, indeed. As you can see, there are a number of curtains along the main window. Those will close, and you will be shown a presentation on our greatest project to date.''

The vicepresidente whispers to the delegate nearest to him: "We used to be communist, but we still had decent food..."

"Uggh, what is this slop?" The Oxuytharian delegate whispers to the delegate next to him, referring to the oatmeal. "Even when I try to make a sandwich out of it, to mask the flavor, it's still disgusting." As he said that, the curtains were closing.

William Schreier walks up to the podium, built in front of the main window, as the curtains close and the view of the city is replaced by a white sheet.

''Once again, I greet you, foreign dignitaries. By now you have all enjoyed our delicious meal, I know for certain, and I am sure that you are all dying to hear what we have to say! As you all know, we have recently opened our nation to the international stage for the first time in nearly a century, and have celebrated this fact for.. (checks watch) ..nearly a week. We have long been the True Light shining on those less civilised (waves hands towards dignitaries), and have recently started work on our greatest project yet. While still in the design phase, and yet to be constructed, we are sure this will interest you all a great deal.

Now. While we see nations all over Kerbin partaking in the research of the grandness we all know as space, we feel there is a certain edge lacking. We see unmanned or single man pods, travelling to distant moons or even planets, but they all seem to lack that sense of, what do you call it, pezazz. Regardless, sending a single man into space is still worth a commendation.. but for us, it is not enough. In order for Equalism to shine its light on Kerbin, we have thus started designing ''Star Town Andromeda'', or STA, our proposed space station, to be built in LKO. It will be as much of a statement for Equalism as a social experiment, as we see the long term effects of gravity on a relatively large group of normal (Equal) people.

Enough revolving around our subject, however. Behold!''

As William finishes his speech, the projector starts displaying a number of mockups of Star Town Andromeda, standing on the launchpad of the Camponja Space Centre:

''Star Town Andromeda will be able to support up to 64 Kerbs, with enough space to feed them using space farms aboard the station. Towering above everything else is the captains quarters, which has an excellent view through the top cupola, and is bordered by the communications centre. This standard habitat module, used only to house and provide access to communications equipment, which has access to the three satellite dishes that cover its top. As you can see, each habitat section consists of three standard modules; one is outfitted to supply food to the other two, which are living quarters for the expansive crew. This relative simple and standard design has done much to limit the total costs and make this station possible. The same goes for the way the habitat modules are configured. This setting allows both for maximum space and ease of construction. In addition, it allows for a total of six ports which can be accessed by resupply vehicles and might even prove as a useful area of expansion in the future. To the centre, a main laboratory section, in which screenings and the like will take place to observe the long term effects of space, and medical aid can be given to those that may fall ill. Bordering that is another section of 4 habitat modules, in the same configuration as before, and finally the solar panel array that will supply the entire Town with power.

We will be constructing this Town over the next few days, for the glory of Equalism, with our excellent friends from the Red Sun Empire, who will be assisting us in construction and design using their extensive knowledge, in exchange for a monetary compensation. It is their generosity that has allowed this project to be conceived, and together, we will prove to all of Kerbin there is only One True Light!''

A late Narconan delegate scurries in and takes a seat. He glances at the food, then turns away and looks at the display.
"Uh huh. Yep. Sure thing. Definitely gonna work." He says.

The New Arovan Representative bursts though the door puffing. "I apologize for my latness, the train broke down and then the car- By the sky father what is that?

"Beautiful, isn't it? Let's see what you pigs and dogs can clme up with to beat that!"

The HUENH duplikat Articles in the hall saying: "im incredibly sorry for being late, our plane pilot has taken wrong road. But im here now. What are we to discu..." ... "Thats a big space station. Tell me more."

"Well, that's a big station you have there. I'm happy to see this marvelous fruit of international collaboration, and I sincerely hope for it not to fall on Kahlawian territory."

What purpose does this station serve? Such a high population density seems more suited to propaganda than actual research.

"And do you have any way to launch such a massive structure?"

I hope one day my children or grand children can at least visit a place like that. It is a noble thing to expand the horizon of civilization. Were I not far too old I would love to study the social dynamics of such a large group in space. I am no medical doctor but I can imagine this will generate amazing data for space medicine.

''Surely, you jest?'' William replied to Tagenhagen. ''The basis of the experiment is both individual research on the changes occurring in the body due to zero G, and indeed a social experiment.'' He turns himself to the others present and says "I'm sure your equally valuable questions are answered easily by looking at the transcript of my presentation! We will be developing the station in unison with the Red Sun, who we will be funding to launch this marvel bit by bit. Hence its structure.

Mind you, it is going to get a bit bigger. EVAC ships are yet to be designed but will be added before habitation.''
