With little fan-fare, the Aeronautics Department of the Kyooka University has been established.

Kyooka University announces the successful test flight of it's first jet aircraft.

The Aeronautics Department of the Kyooka University has successfully placed a jet aircraft into flight today. Engineers from across the country were invited to attend the test-flight celebrations along with individuals from the Yuudai military.

The aircraft performed beyond expectations, exceeding 200m/s, or Mach 0.6 which brings hope that an even faster aircraft could be produced. However, the test pilot noted that the aircraft does not have the same maneuverability of a regular prop aircraft but otherwise, was an brilliant experience.
The head of the Aeronautics Department expressed hope that the government will provide continued support for the program and said such jet aircraft will require continued develop, especially in the aspects of speed, range, payload, and handling.

Otemach University announces new "computer" constructed.
The Otemach University has announced the construction of a new electrical computation machine in it's electronic department. Experts believe these new device can herald a new era in number calculations on a scale never seen yet. While some of the engineers have begun calling this device a computer, whereas current kerbals in the field of computing has filed protested against such a usage of the term. Weighing just under half a tonne, it is truly a sight to behold.

Jet Disaster!
Prototype Jet Aircraft Disintegrates in the Air

An unfortunate accident occurred today at the Kyooka University Airfield when testing of a new prototype jet went astray. A photographer at the incident has released photographs. Engineers have already begun an investigation on the causes of the incident. Aerodynamic failure is already to blame likely arising from an attempt to break the 'sound barrier'. Shouta Arata was the test pilot, and was likely passed out from G-forces before the crash. The shogunate has already begun to take actions to reconcile this event.
