Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth Empty Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth

Post by MysticPing Sun Nov 16, 2014 10:53 am

We invite Segerliner and Kahlawian Ambassadors to a summit in the de-militarized island of Thoria. Where we will re-negotiate the treaty of Albemuth.

Our initial proposal:

As it was not the current government's crime we suggest the treaty should end completely, in return we may join your alliance, and agree not to leave, whatever happens for at least 4 years.

Segerline will attend, and will draft up a proper treaty and try to lay aside our differences.

The DRK agrees on meeting to renegotiate the treaty and to discuss the UK admission to the DEPS.

Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth Empty Re: Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth

With all members here, the meeting is declared opened.

"Hello and welcome! We all know why we are here today, so let's get this started"

Our proposal is this:
All parts of the treaty will be put out of effect. Not including 2.1, which will be lowered to 25 mk per cycle. For the remaining 1 year, per the treaty (Or is it more cycles left, dont know?)

In return we will join the DEPS on a agreement to not leave, whatever happens for 4 years, then if nothing happened we will stay in it.
We can also agree to continue to place a limitation of our army, albeit less restrictive. The Radio Kahlawia will continue to be allowed to be broadcasted in our lands, but never forced.

We think this is fair, because we have followed the treaty completely, and the crimes were not of our current regime.

Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth Empty Re: Regotiation of the Treaty of Albemuth

That's something we can work on. We understand that the government has changed since last time (although in some suspicious way) and we have to say, seems to have changed for the better. I'd like to point out that if our relations are to be normalized and for us to come to a peaceful coexistence, total trasparency on security and political matters is a must have, to avoid dangerous paranoia.

Camponja would like to suggest any transparancy to be mutual; peace can only be built on bipartisan trust, of course, and otherwise Kahlawia and Segerline may still be viewed as the oppressors of this now-free state.

Otherwise, both sides should be allowed to operate without a watchful eye.

Segerline would like to remind Camponja that it is non of your buisness what we discuss during this congress. However we plan this to be transparent if all parties agree.

There is no need for such a harsh tone; we were just providing our two cents

The terms being discussed here are to be discussed between the signatories of the Treaty of Albemuth, at the terms pointed out in it. We ask third parties to abstain from unnecessary comments.

What is your opinion of this proposed solution, Segerliner?

Spoiler:

We also assume that this means that the rest of the treaty will be nulled, are we right?

The economical reparations are a non negotiable point. We might agree to lower the cyclic fee, but the total amount to be paid cannot be modified.
As for the rest of the treaty, point 1 (Of territorial changes) will stand in place, and point 3 (Of control and surveillance) will be de facto voided since by joining the DEPS you'll implicitly agree to DEPS controls over military and space matters, and that the new treaty specifically mentions special weapons control.

The reperations were too large to begin with anyway, all it has done is stop us from advancing scientifically. But very well we can agree.
(Have i not payed the last payment anyway, been 10 cycles, let's do the military discussion later then?)
