Operation Purple Flare

In the late hours of the afternoon, a ballon lifts over the sea from an old merchant in a point between Nadirjia and the Segerlinen archipelago.
On board a destroyer, some kilometers, the technicians monitors the balloon payload and the meteorological data. The motherly wind ceased to be a concern some hours before, and anyway no one cares about the safety of the Kortugans.
Several hours later, with the world below in the darkness, the balloon reaches 10000 meters altitude. In the destroyer's control room, a key is turned.
Instantly, the stars fade away and the sea for hundreds kilometers around turns into white flaming phosphorus, as a new star burns in the sky.
