Through the next RP I will post alot of extra history, cultural information, their language and calendar etc for anyone who is bored can read. But I'd suggest everyone read up on the cultural information when it comes up because otherwise my kerbals can be very offended at diplomatic meetings if things are handeled in ways seen offensive in their culture. ^^

Loth'alic Calendar
The Loth'alic people are a people of astronomers and merchants mainly. Their interest in astronomy has been observed and can still be observed through history with big temples that had towers with windows which focused on different parts of the night sky. When a planet entered the field of view for this window, they knew that they had entered a certain time period in their calendar. This lead to them more easily keeping tabs of the seasons and dates prior to the modern Loth'alic calendar.
The calendar is divided into five categories which is roughly translated to, Days, Weeks, Months, Years and Ages.
- Days:
- Days: Like many other calendars, the days are characterized by the time it takes for Kerbin to rotate 360 degrees, which takes six hours. There is six days to fill a week and the days are called:
Selq'Nam: Roughly translates to "The Guardian Day" which is there to celebrate their deity who watches over them. It is a day of universal brotherhood, a day to honour dead relatives and a day of collective prayer. If you have spare change in your pockets, you are per tradition expected to atleast hand some of the money to the poor. The day symbolises three things that are key to the Loth'alic people, the first thing is that we were all created as equals under the eyes of the Guardian. One can enjoy success in his life but ultimately you need to remember that you are not alone in the world and that we need to work together to progress in society. The day also serves to symbolise that no kerbal are imortal and that one day everyone will be ascended to the Guardian for his final judgement, it is wise to look on your past actions of the last week and see if you have lived a week of harmony or sin. The last part which is prayer also serves as a universal brotherhood part. The churches organises prayers which seeks to ask for help or guidance of those in despair wether it be an small insignifcant village or the entire kingdom. The weekly tithe is also collected for the members of church to be distributed to the poor but also to build up more glamorous churches.
Fal'Nam: Roughly translates to "Transit Day" which refers to the fact the Mun is beginning its journey from point A around kerbin back to point A. It is the first work day of the week and many kerbals probably grumbles as they have to get up early to the factories or stores.
Mah'Nam: Mah'Nam translates to "Mun Day" which refers to the Mun having traveled half its orbit around Kerbin by midnight between Mah'Nam and Jer'Nam. This is celebrated with a prayer for everyone religious and the Priors (a sort of priest) preaching the prayer in a sort of minaret for everyone to hear. The prayers usually thanks the Guardian for his guidance through the week and for his protection for the rest of the week. However this can be changed if the situation dictates.
Jer'Nam: Meaning roughly "Life Day". It is believed and written in the religious texts that on this day, the famous spark of life was sent into the waters by the Guardian, creating the first organisms that would later become kerbals. Before midnight after work, kerbals gather together in their communities to pray usually under the directive of the minarets who lead the prayers. It is also a day to show appreciation to your fellow kerb. If you have treated someone poorly, today would be a good day to apologize. If someone means alot to you, today is a good day to say that. Many kerbals chooses to propose on this day to their partners. This tradition is so deeply rooted into society that you can even see a wast majority of wars ending or having a ceasefire on this day.
Klad'Nam: A day in the honour of "Kladic", the first prophet of the Guardian. It is the last work day in the week, and while it is not the most celebrated day of the week, it acts more as a friday would in the western world. More fancier food are prepared and eaten, and preparations for the festivities of tomorow are under way.
Tic'Nam: The final day of the week and litteraly means "Feast Day". It is a day of unity between neighbours and friends. Big feasts are prepared in some way or another throughout the lands where neighbourhoods usually gather their resources and have a big dinner where everyone is welcome. It is not unheard of that the poor are allowed in to these feasts. Soldiers in the military tends to get better provisions these days and the soup kitchens tends to have more expensive food available for the poor.
- Months:
- Months: Every Loth'al month is made up by eight weeks, and eight and a half month makes one year. The Loth'al people bases their months on the Minmusian orbital period, and the months represents both religious but also nationalistic symbolism.
Jerloc: Jerloc translates to "Life month" and happens during spring time. It is widely believed by the religious community that the Guardian made the first life forms during this month. It is not only that which is interesting about this month. Due to the fact that there goes 8.5 months per year, this month was made shorter than every other month but it also begins two weeks before the year is over and ends two weeks after the year is over. It is a month of big festivities which will be listed below in the national holidays section. Many families starts to consider having a child during this time period.
Priloc: Priloc roughly means "First month" and is widely considered the first real full month in the year. Monasteries opens up for new recruits to become monks, and religious figureheads gets promoted this month if they have done a good job. In recent times it has also become the month where people vote representatives for parliament every four years.
Kladic'loc: The month where the great prophet was born. It is a month which focus is put on the family and friends. Celebrative holidays are held in which people recieve gifts, stores usually offers 30%-50% off on their products and corny commericials are made to get people to consume as much stuff as possible.
Sohloc: Roughly translates to "Maturity month" and is the beginning of the summer season. The Loth'alic people view the summer as the season where plantlife is beginning to mature, to later be harvested during the autum. To symbolize this maturity, many people tends to marry during this month even monarchs, nobles and government officials follows this tradition to the letter.
Masloc: Can be translated to "Fourth month" and has no particular holiday or tradition except for the famous "Opposite day" to the outside world, this is a very very strange tradition. The kerbals are celebrating that Kerbin has traveled to the opposite side of Kerbol, and thus they for one day does virtually everything the opposite way. People walk around with their pants on their head and shirts as trousers, hats as socks and socks as hats. Instead of buying groceries in the super markets, the super markets buys groceries from the average kerb, and sells the groceries the day after. Rich kerbals put on their poor mans clothes and lives on the street during this day and the poor kerbals in some occasions has been invited into mansions and lived a life of luxury for one day, its crazy really... Many kerbals prepare for the upcomming harvest festivals and traditions for the next season after opposite day.
Agrloc: Agrloc kinda means "Harvest month" and is a season with big feasts and festivities. It is here that the taxes are collected, granaries are stocked with food, the last meat of the hunting season are gathered etc. It is a season of sharing and parties with many kerbals preparing their costumes even months before these holidays. Big public parades with civilians from all over the country are common in this period.
Mortloc: Means "Month of the Dead" and is a month where much respect is paid to the dead.
