The Kerbin Federation of Scientists.

Welcome to the Kerbin Federation of Scientists. We have two goals; first, to promote scientific advancement and integration worldwide; and secondly to provide specific, public information about scientific areas of great import to life on kerbin, such as rocketry and nuclear physics. The Federation intends to pursue both goals without becoming beholden to the military or to any individual country.

 To aid in our role of promoting scientific advancement, the Federation intends to award a cash prize to the individual or team judged responsible for the most significant technological advancement in the last five years; the winners shall be chosen by the members in committee, and the prize is intended to be 5MK, though may be less depending on the funding situation.

The federation is to function as a charity, having no income other than donations-the role of the president is to regulate the spending of donated moneys to advance the goals given above. The current President of the Federation is Gordana Stojadinović of the Kutan Imperial Academy of Science, but is planned to rotate between representatives of each member nation in turn.

Any nation that applies will join automatically, and will then enter the rotation for Federation Presidency.

Following our claim that we would build the fastest aircraft ever created, we wish to announce that we have done so. Raider MK I was capable of reaching speeds of Mach 1.3 at sea level, and during test flights reached speeds of over Mach 1.9 at altitude.

Ensjorehningiriki wishes to report that our scientists have successfully found a method by which the nuclei of a large quantity uranium-235 atoms may be split, releasing an amount of energy on the order of over 100 Terrajoules in the slightest instant.
This represents the single greatest leap in nuclear physics since the very discovery of the atom.

Indeed, branches have been set up to develop both slow, controlled output for the development of power stations that will make use of this technology and to develop a weapon that may be dropped from the bay of an aeroplane. With this discovery, we have made war obsolete.

Nonsense. Early gunpowder warfare requires many lines of soldiers firing from fixed positions, and wars with gunpowder took equally as long as wars without.
The era of the nuclear bomb will render warfare instantly deadly for all members of both sides of a force. Neither side will drop their weapons for fear of the other dropping theirs. A nation without nuclear weapons will never dare to attack a nation with. Warfare will cease to be feasible for anybody, and will therefore cease to be.

At this stage, we are just facing the fact that a nation has gained the capacity to eliminate whole cities without fear of comparable retaliation.

Indeed we have. And for the time being, we find ourselves unwilling to give such an advantage to nations so openly hostile to ours. Perhaps in time, we will share this technology with our close allies or other nations will develop their own.

We have already announced that the landquake was the result of this program, and wish to assure the Sangan government that the test took place in Skoldurveggminn, our mine, which is in turn dug into Enskoldurvegg, our mountains. We suggest that you refrain from attempting to steal further lands from our people, Meindeirum.
