Fisnavavaada-New Coresonia Unveil SCEAVER System By Putting a Kerb In Space!
"The world sits at the precipice of a new age: the age of exploration. A new part of the exploration is a joint effort between New Coresonia and Fisnavavaada, and they announced that they plan to continue their exploration together, forging a new future of cooperation. The SCEAVER system consists of twin launchers, the SCEAVER-L, seen today, and the SCEAVER, both built for orbital capabilities. SCEAVER will only be orbital once we've finished our throttleable engines, which we will debut with the next series of launches. For the futures of New Coresonia and Fisnavavaada, the heavens beckon."
The Fisnavavaadian Broadcast:
Glorious Empire! We have launched a new rocket! We call it SCEAVER!
Both albums contain artistic impressions, where photos are impossible.
Our unmanned test:

The rocket streaked off the pad, flying upwards and slightly south faster than most tripod cameras could follow. The rocket broke Mach 5 before leaving the atmosphere, which caused some issues with the launch. The rocket engine over-accelerated the tiny light test payload, and vibrated to the point where the engine cut out and spewed the rest of the rocket fuel out at about 40km. The fuel dispersed and followed the rocket on its trajectory until the heat burned it up. One fin was damaged by high atmospheric pressure, which caused the rocket to flip 360 degrees at 54km. The payload survived both issues, and transmitted basic scientific data include barometric and temperature data back to the ground using two radio channels.
Shortly thereafter, our manned test:

Albrick Kerman hopped into the capsule, cheery after the success of the launch of the first SCEAVER test mission. The throttle for the rocket, pre-settable for a more comfortable flight until we figure in-flight throttle and re-ignition, was tuned back for less G-forces, and the SAS onboard "computer", given basic tasks of controlling the rocket's in-flight guidance with torque wheels. The rocket flew away much slower, experiencing a maximum of 3 Gs. Albrick re-entered from 217km, and survived a relatively stable splashdown.
This is a glorious day for the Empire! The new Exo-Atmospheric Aide to the Emperor after Doctor Gerban Kerlorf was discovered dead from an apparent carjacking-gone-wrong, Doctor Eldan Nerclo, was quoted as saying "The heavier rocket will debut with the next launch. These today were the SCEAVER-L variant, but the SCEAVER rocket has a heavier load, and will fly kerbals into orbit in a few months! Longevity to the loved Emperor!"
OOC note: Re-posted to fix temporal hiccups.

Re: Fisnavavaada-New Coresonia Unveil SCEAVER System By Putting a Kerb In Space!
S.E.A.D.D. highly condemns the Fisnavavaadan space program for putting a kerb in an untested and clearly dangerous vehicle, even before testing reentry capabilities, to simply achieve a useless prestige victory. We see in this the complete incapacity of leading a space exploration effort, as already showed by the false claim of an orbital launch.

Although we agree with the sentiment of this message, we do not see much difference from Kalawiah's efforts in the same realm.borisperrons wrote:S.E.A.D.D. highly condemns the Fisnavavaadan space program for putting a kerb in an untested and clearly dangerous vehicle, even before testing reentry capabilities, to simply achieve a useless prestige victory. We recognize that the actions of the IKAF manned program were criminally unsafe, and in fact the responsible have been demoted from their positions. The actual S.E.A.D.D. policy is to blame these actions, and to throughly test every new manned vehicle.
