- The Battle:
- The War for Raxiran Aggression entered a new stage as the war broadened in scope both by an increase in active units and an increase in determination and risk in the engagements envisioned by the various military leaders.
The start of this round of warfare was nearly entirely at sea, as a massive Raxiran armada steamed towards Gladia’s capital in an effort to seize it and force a Raxiran victory, a truly daring and cunning plan. The massive fleet saw very little resistance in its initial push, as it approached the Gladian coast in a circular manner, with submarines and destroyers serving as the first line of defence against enemy submarines. Now, time and time again they spotted these Gladian and Narconan subs, but these subs managed to stay away far enough and prevent their destruction. As a result, the Raxiran navy suddenly found itself under attack by Anti Coast Missiles (ACM’s), fired by Narconan ‘’Pikeman’’ Launch trucks. These missiles sought to target the Raxiran destroyers, and managed to take out 6 of them. Indeed quite the tactical victory for the Narcona-Gladians, but sadly not nearly enough to stop the Raxiran fleet.
The rest of the Gladian navy, called up by local commanders sought to disturb the Raxiran fleet, but quickly realised they were just too outnumbered to do anything meaningful. In a quick-strike attack, however, they did manage to take out 2 of the Raxiran aircraft carriers, to the loss of 2 of their own light cruisers. Raxira didn’t really feel this however, as, for some reason, they carried a total of 8 aircraft carriers, for no real reason (they do not come with planes, after all, and Raxira was close enough to handle basing duties).
How had this all happened? Well, while the Raxirans dominated the sea, the Gladian-Narconans had very heavy air superiority. At the start, the Raxiran fleet had all types of aircraft flying overhead to assist her in her tasks, but as the one thing the Gladian-Narconans could do to counter-attack was a massive air-offensive, they put most of their anti-ship effort into doing exactly that. Taking out nearly all of the Raxiran Air Superiority Craft in the first wave, they quickly seized the initiative in the air, and although their losses in this wave were quite heavy owing to the number of missile cruisers guarding the fleet, this proved worthwhile as the Gladians struck down air attack after air attack directed at the city’s defences, and more importantly, the convoy of reinforcements racing to the city from the south. At the end of the air war, which continued for the rest of the round, the losses were clear: 4 Raxiran Air Superiority Craft had been disabled, along with 3 of their Bomber Squadrons and 5 of their Ground Attack Squadrons; the Gladian-Narconans had lost 7 Air Superiority Squadrons, but only a single Ground Attack Squadron. In addition, both sides had lost 3 Anti-Air Vehicles to both hostile actions from the air and from the ground.
As the fleet approached the city of Haiden, panic broke out in the city and an evacuation started, preventing many civilians from perishing in the oncoming violence. The fleet prepared her position, and as the shelling started, Gladian reinforcements, originally planted at the Gladian-Raxiran border, flowed into the city in an effort to prevent its demise. By the time they arrived, however, a massive force of Raxiran special forces had already arrived at the city’s beaches, and taken out the 3 Regiments of Infantry defending the city to the loss of only two Regiments of Special Forces. As the Raxirans progressed through the city, however, they soon met the Gladian Army’s Anti-Infantry Vehicles, and after being stalled due to Gladian delay tactics, they managed to overcome their enemy by calling in the Anti-Infantry Regiments. They thus lost 2 Anti Tank Regiments and another 2 Special Forces Regiments to the loss of about 3 Anti-Infantry Regiments, with the last of these Gladian Regiments falling back to positions on the outskirts of the city.
By the end of the day, the full Raxiran Army had landed, and the Gladian Armour had arrived at the scene, which resulted in both sides moving out their armour to engage one another. In urban combat, however, these equal engagements often end up being about chance, and the Raxirans managed to get lucky with their first shots, taking out one of the Armoured Regiments defending the town. The Gladians quickly struck back and took out one of the Raxiran Regiments, after which they took advantage of the chaos in the Raxiran lines and managed to disable yet another Armoured Regiment! The Raxiran Armour quickly pulled back, and the Gladians chased them down, managing to take out the last Regiment but sadly losing another one themselves due to Anti-Tank Infantry stationed near the retreat route of the Raxiran attackers.
The next phase of the Battle of Haiden saw the Gladians digging in in the outskirts of the city, with the Raxirans continueing to attempt to shut out the defenders. Bth sides continued to fire at one another using land based (Gladia) and sea based (Raxira) artillery, while low-level urban conflict continued, causing both sides to lose additional troops; 2 Raxiran Special Forces and 1 Anti-Tank Regiment perished, as well as 3 Standard Regiments and 2 Anti-Tank Regiments.
Now the choice remains for both sides: fall back or reinforce? This decision will be crucial for the further war, and even as we speak, pockets of Gladian resistance remain in the capital of the Kingdom, although the city in general is in Raxiran hands.

War reporters state that if not listed in the prior units tab, units did not take part in the battle, and thus are not listed in the remaining units section
