Nuclear Detonations in Kutan and Ensjorehningiriki Empty Nuclear Detonations in Kutan and Ensjorehningiriki

Early this morning at an unknown Safeneian early warning radar station, warnings and alarms started blaring about an impending attack. Upon further investigation, the radars showed that ballistic missiles from unknown nations were beginning re-entry northeast and south of Safenei. The sad news was radioed to higher command, and when it reached the office of President Buc Ivenhaam, he ordered a retaliatory strike on the attackers, before he was taken to a bunker. Civil warnings woke up most of the country, and civilians started seeking shelter wherever they could.

Safeneian generals soon concluded that the missiles must have launched from two nations: Kutan and Ensjorehningirki. Only a handful of nations ever got far enough in the technology race to produce nuclear missiles, and the others that could - Vyrux, Canstana, and Oresea - were allies of Safenei. The orders were radioed to missile siloes across the country. Keys were turned, switches were switched, and large, red buttons were pressed.

While Safeneian civilians were scrambling to their basements, many froze in fear as they heard the rumbling sound of rockets launched. Ten ICBMs lifted off from missile siloes and streaked towards the sky, where they split into groups. Four went northeast to Kutan, five went southeast to Ensjorehningiriki, and one went due west to Cele.

The missiles heading for Ensjorehningiriki hit first. While most of the country was still sleeping, the five warheads entered the atmosphere and descended at an alarming rate. In the blink of an eye, large flashes blinded Sjorehningis across the country, and large fireballs engulfed the cities of Enzalehgaztahbaz, Midbaz, Norsathur, and Hafmennhild. The nuclear blasts, which later were determined to be 150 kilotons each, decimated most of each city, killing an estimated 400,000 instantly, and another 800,000 within the hour. The total estimates of Sjorehningi casualties is placed around 1.2 million, along with the destruction of most the Sjorehningi government. Fortunately for the residents of Sudbaz, the warhead destined for the city broke up during atmospheric re-entry, due to a small crack in the heat shield.

Shortly after, the four warheads began descending over their targets in Kutan. The first warhead to enter the atmosphere was to strike Rožanj, however it failed to arm and slammed into an office building. The Kutanese in the other cities weren't so lucky however, as 150 KT fireballs engulfed Krstac, Durmitor, and Kovač. After the dust subsided, what remained of the Kutanese government began rescue efforts and firefighting. An official estimate put the total Kutanese casualties around 800,000 after the first hour.

Just ten minutes later, the final warhead began closing in to the Celean city of Njesuthe, which also successfully hit and destroyed the city. 22,000 people died instantly and another 58,000 died within the day.

After the warheads hit, Kane and other Safeneian officials wondered what happened. Nobody has felt even the smallest tremor, and no reports of a detonation has come in. Operators at the early warning stations noticed that their detection systems stopped with the alarms, and what they discovered led to intense shock and multiple suicides.

There were no incoming missiles. The early warning just caught the Mun on the horizon.
