Event -- A Dinner in Kaeprus Empty Event -- A Dinner in Kaeprus

Post by DeltaV Mon Dec 01, 2014 9:44 pm

It is the early evening in the capital of the Republic of the Islands of Kaeprus. The sun slowly drifts towards the horizon, bathing the ocean in orange beams. Just outside of the city, a private airstrip and dock have been built, and next to both wait a line of sleek automobiles, ready to take arriving dignitaries and representatives to the dinner.

As visitors load into cars, they will be brought through multiple security checkpoints, where searches are conducted and identities confirmed. From there, they will pass through the city on a closed road, past various assembled tourists, citizens and press members before arriving at the meeting hall, which sits on a hill overlooking much of the downtown area. Once inside, they are ushered through into the dining area, which consists of a long table adjacent to a kitchen. At the table, each guest's seat is marked, careful to avoid placing members of hostile nations next to each other. Along the walls of the room and throughout the area, pockets of guards stand ready.

Inside, the various chefs and servers bustle about the room and the kitchen, preparing and presenting the meal. In addition, the President of Kaeprus and two representatives of the Council stand ready to greet dignitaries as they arrive.

The President takes the bottle and hands it to the nearest attendant, who hurries off with it to the kitchen. "Please, call me John. It's a pleasure to meet you. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed by the food."

As they move to the dining hall, the bodyguards would be stopped by a guard at the door. "I'm afraid I'll take your pistols now. I'm sure you understand, given that there will be representatives from CICS in attendance. There is plenty of security inside."

The Camponjans are searched, and assuming they are not carrying any contraband are waved past. Inside the building, the guard takes the pistols and thanks the bodyguards. One of the Council representatives leaves to take their seat at the dining table, while the other and the President continue to wait at the entrance for more arrivals.

A crimson blimp, with the Imperial laurel wreath painted on its side enters the airspace. It lands on the airstrip in a suitable area, and 4 Imperial Guardskerbs march out, with ceremonial spears and shields. Following them exit 9 senators, dressed in modern togas, as well as the Emperor wearing his red sash. They are escorted to their vehicles and pass through the checkpoints, clear of any anomalies. As they approach the meeting hall, the Emperor takes out a small box, with 5 half-glass sized wine bottles as a gift for their hosts. The wines are 5 of the Empire's best selections, and located underneath are some small chocolates to compliment each bottle.

As they pull up outside, the Aquitians exit the vehicles, and enter the hall. "Salutae!" greets the Emperor to the President as he holds out his hand to shake: "We have bought you a selection of wines from the corners of the Empire. Please, accept them as a token of our goodwill." The box is held out in presentation to the President by a young senator, who appears to be of relation to the Emperor.

A Rikutan government KHI-101 Falcon touches down on the runway after getting cleared for landing. As the plane comes to a stop, the Transitional Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kazuto Urobuchi exits the plane, along with two bodyguards. The three quickly make their way towards the waiting limousines, with Mr. Urobuchi greeting the driver. As the limo continues along the road, it passes the crowds of gathered media members and curious citizens. Urobuchi groans. 'For the love of Ayu, couldn't we have taken a less public route?' Several minutes later, after clearing the last of the security checkpoints, the Rikutan delegation arrives at the meeting hall. The three of them enter the hall and see the Kaeprusians, as well as another delegation already there. "Greetings gentleman. I'm here representing the Rikutan people. How are all of you this fine evening?"

"Greetings, honourable president! I hope you will enjoy this gift I brought from Camponja." Quickly, the young man hands over an extra fine bottle of Tonic. "I hope you will enjoy it!"

"Wonderful," says the President, taking the food and handing it over to the chefs as well. "It is a pleasure to meet you. You will have to leave the spears by the door, I am afraid. Otherwise, do enter the dining room." He gestures to the doorway. "I will join you once most of the guests have arrived, and food will be served."

The President accepts this latest gift as well, and hands it over to the attendant, who at this point is rather flushed from ferrying bottles of wine and boxes of chocolate to and from the kitchen. "I have no doubt that we will. It is an honor to meet you. Please, head into the dining hall whenever you wish."

Event -- A Dinner in Kaeprus Empty Re: Event -- A Dinner in Kaeprus

Post by Guest Mon Dec 01, 2014 11:34 pm

Over the horizon a group of Kaeprian merchants spots something crossing the ocean just outside the territorial waters. Is it a speed boat? Is it a flying angel of death? No it is the Hoschseeflotte! An armada of ships escorts a yacht approaching the Kaeprian waters. In the loudspeakers attached to the boats maginified to level 100 on the soundboard, patriotic music is played along the entire route.

As the yacht carrying the WPRP delegates breaks formation and heads towards the territorial waters and harbour a naval music corps is playing marches and songs the entire route, and WPRP news media films the entire event.

As the yacht docks in harbour, the Segerlinen delegate of the WPRP looks at the other delegates.

"Shall we?" he points towards the exit.

Glorious WPRP music:

Mr. Urobuchi thanks the Kaeprusians, then proceeds into the dining hall with his bodyguards. Seeing several of the delegations already there, he heads over to the seat marked for him and sits down.

As the President stands in the meeting hall, his phone rings and he picks up.

"Sir, we're seeing a fleet of warships approaching the area."
"What? From whom?"

An awkward silence ensues.

"Judging by the music -- which you can practically hear from the shore -- the WPRP."
"I thought we'd established ourselves on friendly terms."
"As did I, sir. They're certainly not hoping for a sneak attack. Wait a second: The entire armada stopped just outside of our waters."
"Hmmm. What kind of weapons?"
"The fleet is fully armed, sir, but they don't seem to be making any moves on us. I've sent some ships out to see what the hell is --"
"What is it?"
"There's a goddamn yacht coming out."
"Wonderful. Just absolutely wonderful. I'm guessing the representatives are onboard?"
"Looks like it. The ships I sent can just make them out with binoculars."
"Great. Search them at the checkpoints as usual and send them on up. I'll have a talk when they arrive."

Meanwhile, a few coast guard ships open transmission with the ships. "This is the coast guard of the Republic of the Islands of Kaeprus. Care to explain why you sent an entire fleet out for a dinner party?"

The radio operator responds.

"It was just saying hello, it will take off now. The delegates will arrive in a moment"

"Oh yes, that music were very loud, but I like it." He says as he takes his things and disembarks.

"It would do well to do so. Please notify us in advance when you plan on parking your warships next door; one might get the wrong idea."

The boats wait until the armada starts to leave, and presuming it does would return back to shore.

"Now, it's not like we don't trust your security measures, TOTALLY not, I'm sure you have the most competent bodyguards and security guys on this side of the Veiid, but, well, you know how they say in Faktorien, 'better safe than sorry, and in any case always bring a carrier with you'. So, we'll just sit around here sunbathing, playing cards, conducting BARCAPs around the place, you just go ahead with your dinner, and whistle in our general direction if something's wrong, ok? Ok! Sniff ya later, mate!"

"This is in direct contradiction of what your radio operator has just said. Note that to enter our territorial waters with these ships will be considered a declaration of war, and we will not hesitate to engage your warships should this occur."

"CICS missile cruiser "Yahbi" requesting permission to enter your sovereign waters."

You let a whole WPRP fleet in, and not one of our unarmed ships. This certainly shos your opinion of us. It will reflect on ours too.

The Segerlinen delegate makes his way through the checkpoints with his bodyguards and reaches the president.

"Greetings and thank you for having us my friend! I hope our humble arrival wasn't too much of an inconvienence! I brought some food with us, I hope you have a good apetite." He nods at a guard holding bags with food.

The President frowns at the delegate, but hands off the food to the overworked attendant. "I would very much appreciate if you were to withdraw your navy from just outside our waters."

Three submarines make their way to the edge of Kaeprusian national waters, where those onboard watch the fleet with uncertainty and prepare to act should they move towards the mainland.

Post by borisperrons Tue Dec 02, 2014 12:17 am

The Kahlawian representative, dressed in an elegant linen suit and wearing the traditional Albemuthian white fez, disembarks the yacht and approaches the President, speaking with a strangely high tone of voice, as he was suffering from a slight deafness.

"So, hello there, Mr. President! Very pleased to meet you! I bring the greeting of the Kahlawian People, metaphorically speaking, but practically speaking I bring you those gifts from our lands!"

He snaps his fingers and an assistant brings up a wooden casket, while other two haul what seems like a big wooden barrel, from which emanates a distinctly striking smell of cheese.
