World Automotive Gran Prix Association
I'll be running this next RP.
Racing. Speed. Victory.
Three things that have enchanted everyone from grown men to little children.
They say everything runs slower when you're on the edge.
Why not the edge of 200mph?
WAGPA, or World Automotive Gran Prix Association, is a global entity, consisting of a few lead members commissioned from premier automotive positions and institutions around the world. Their goal is to run a global racing series, with only the best drivers and best engineers from each nation. As such, they are going to begin said global racing series, called the Kerbin Gran Cup Series, running 5 races a year with a max field of 30 cars. It will cost 5mk to enter a car, but nations can have more than one car. Limits on per-nation cars will only be imposed if securing an entry slot becomes a problem.
Cars will be built by the premier automotive company or bureau of a nation, within certain specifications. A general body design must be followed, with weights, ride height, wing angle, horsepower, torque, fuel consumption, and driver safety all within certain bounds. A specific committee will investigate any infractions, lead by a review panel of 5.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of a race season, with 50% of entry fees going to the 1st place nation, 2nd place getting 25%, and 5% going to 3rd. The remaining 20% goes to the WAGPA to develop a new car standard or sponsor new tracks/corporate sponsorships/party yachts necessary equipment.
The way this works is simple. Of the field of 30 cars, a driver is assigned a skill number between 0-30. At the beginning of the race, all cars must pass a 99% (13 out of 0-100) specification legality check. Then, they must pass a 75% (0-24 out of 0-100) mechanical failure check. A caution roll is done, with 0-19 being 1 caution, 20-39 2 cautions, 40-59 3 cautions, 60-79 4 cautions, and 80-100 4 cautions and 1 red flag. Each caution, a random amount of skill rolls will be conducted, being an amount between 2 to 5. The skill rolls will be rolled between 1-30, and whoever matches the skill roll is involved in the wreck and out of the race. If a red flag wreck occurs, any driver involved must pass a 90% (0-10 out of 0-100) survival check. A failure means driver death and forfeiture of the season. This will decrease as cars get safer. At the end of the race, remaining cars will be randomly selected for finishing order, renumbered to the number of remaining cars and having random.org choose the finishing order. Each place higher a car finishes, it earns five points. 30th earns 5 points, 29th 10, 28th 15, and so on to 1st, who wins 150 points. After the five races, the winners are selected with the highest points.
Races will need to be hosted. At five a year, we need at least 5 tracks worldwide. It costs 30PP to build a track, and has a random chance from 00-100 of awarding tourism income. A roll of a 20 means one experiences a net wash, earning no money but covering their costs. A 0 means a loss of 2mk for a failed event, and a 100 means a gain of 8mk for a very successful race. If a nation wishes to reduce their cost of hosting a race, they may enter private conversations with WAGPA to establish a financing plan. If more than 5 tracks exist worldwide, then I will randomly select tracks. If you build a track in your nation, feel free to draw it on a piece of paper and send me a picture or sketch it online. I'd like to have maps of tracks to provide more in-depth race reports. Also, if you wish to paint your cars, you can. Ask me for this years template, and I will send you a blank, white outline of the car for that year. Paint it and send it back with your car's number, which I will give when you purchase your car slot.
Ask any questions if you wish, or make suggestions.
