The Segerlinen Peace Summits

Out in the middle of nowhere lies embassy island. That is the only Segerlinen soil that any foreigner can dream of walking on. On top of a big hill on the island lies a palace, it was the remenant of the old Segerlinen Empire. A big perimeter had been fenced off, and there was more checkpoints than usual.

Soldiers were patroling the island, it was even heightened security outside the perimeter by the embassies. On one of the guard towers, you could see the guards smoke a cigarette in the cold rainy weather, talking about something while they looked out over the water. Out in the distance you see parts of the Segerlinen fleet patroling the waters.

The only way into the island was through a harbour. Parts of the Segerlinen special forces was patroling there, and a checkpoint by the exit was in place to check for ID papers, and to check for any weapons that might be present.

This was a good sight for comrade Franz Habsbergen, the Segerlinen delegate. Everything was ready, and he felt that finally they would reach a agreement that everyone liked. To stop another international tragedy, this was his chance to prove to the diplomatic corps that he had what it takes to become head minister of peace. He would succeed, for the fatherland and for his people.

The Kyuxian Delegate arrives. He is a high noble from West Kyux. Suriik

Two Segerlinen guards walks up to the Kyuxan delegate.

"Papers please"

He gives the paper to the guards

He looks at them and they turn out to be real. Two guards searches the delegate, and then he get's escorted in a car to the palace.

The Kahlawian ambassador, Hedieh Neyestani, arrives via car directly from the Kahlawian embassy on the island.

At the checkpoint, the guards check his papers and search him for any weapons. Then they let him in to the palace.

Neyestani steps into the palace, hands his coat to the attendee and looks around.

The Segerlinen delegate smiles and shakes Neyestanis hand.

"Welcome, I hope all is well?"

The Segerlinen news reporters takes pictures for the news reels.

"As best as it could be, Mr. Habsbergen. I'd like to tank you for your efforts towards peace between my nation and the UKK. That's really appreciated by the Shahanshah."

"I also appreciate the efforts towards maintaining peace, and i am sure Kya does to"

"We are just doing what we can. But we are not here to exchange compliments, maybe we should start right away?"

Two guards open a double door to a big room, with a big table with atleast 20 chairs surrounding it.

"I sense Kemicus smiling at us today." His words as he sits down

"As surely Kreatsu is doing. Let's hope he blesses us with wisdom."

He then sits and extracts some documents from his briefcase.

A assistant walks in with two documents and gave it to both the delegates.

The segerlinen delegates said:

"I took the liberty of making a draft treaty to compromise. It will be the basis of todays discussions, let me know what you think!"

Treaty of Colonial Kyux

1. A exchange of territory shall be in place.
   a. The United Kingdoms of Kyux, is obliged to sell what is known as Karan Osluus Defik to The Empire of Kahlawia.
      i. The price shall be agreed between both signatories of this treaty.
   b. The Empire of Kahlawia shall no longer claim what is known as "Nadirja".
   c. The United Kingdoms of Kyux shall no longer claim what is known as Karan Osluus Defik.
2. The population of Karan Osluus Defik and Nadirja shall be divided between The Empire of Kahlawia and The United Kingdoms of Kyux as such:
   a. All Kerbals of Kyux herritage shall be considered Kyuxan citizens.
   b. All Kerbals of Kahlawian herritage shall be considered Kahlawian citizens.
   c. All signing parties will have control of their citizens. Meaning that any party can have their citizens leave the other party's territory if they desire.
3. The right to access the territorial waters of The United Kingdoms of Kyux should be defined as such:
   a. The Empire of Kahlawia will have access to the southern territorial waters of The United Kingdoms of Kyux if:
      i. No more than two Kahlawian ships are in the territorial waters at the same time.
      ii. Does not partake in any activity with hostile intent.
      iii. Have all submarines above water level.
      iv. Does not have a naval exercise.
      v. Does not fire any weapon while in the territorial waters.
      vi. Does not anchor or stop for longer than ten minutes.
   b. The United Kingdoms of Kyux will not engage Kahlawian ships if the above requirements are met.
   c. The Empire of Kahlawia will not require any security codes or any before hand notice of their activities.

"I must of been wrong. I am forwarding Kya's opinion. And we will NOT give away what we rightfully took 100 years ago. I thought we were ment to settle this. Not escalate. If the purpose of this summit is to simply trick us into giving away our land i might as well leave now."

"We are not trying to trick anyone, we are just trying to settle this peacefully. Leaving this as it is is exactly what will escalate the conflict."

"You share our religion. Giving up this land would be betrayal. And that is not accepted."

"Then what demands would you be willing to give in? Are you willing to send the Kahlawians back to Kahlawia? Are you willing to let him transport his ships through the waters south of nadirja under the rules of the treaty?"

"Why should I in the first place, what does this give me? This only makes it better for Kahlawia. I can accept all parts of the treaty except us giving up our rightful land. His citizens are free to leave. But i would never force them too. And what am i to get for this?"

"I have no doubts that a sum of money could be transfered if you exchange the citizenship of the kahlawians and give him transit rights. Right?"

Mr. Habsbergen looks at the Kahlawian delegate.

"The focus of the Kahlawian government is not on the land, but on the people. We ask for the immediate return of all the citizens of Kahlawian heritage residing in Karan Osluus Defik, plus the payement to them by the Kyuxian government of every property they should leave behind. We are not, in any way, going to pay for this to happen, since it would be paying for an inalienable sacred right.
"The kyuxian delegate is right, we are here to settle this question. But if with "settle" he means that we should abondon our people, then he's wrong.
"We find the Segerlinen proposal acceptable, but we concede that the Kyuxians may want to change something in it. We are ready to discuss on this."

"We will not force all Kahlawians away. Only those who want to. But we will not pay for their movement"

"We all will have to make sacrifices to make it work. It is the stubborness that keeps us at square one, maybe if you both can sacrifice equally much.

How about that all nations renounce their claims, and we establish a protectorate. A semi-independent republic that is under the protection by both of you, where those of Kahlawian herritage abide by Kahlawian laws and those of Kyux abide by Kyuxan laws? That way no one will gain anything really except peace. And that is what we all want, isn't it?"
